traditional music.
The 2009 festival features the following
entertainment:
 |
JD Crowe and The New South
J.D. Crowe and the New South are among the most
influential bluegrass bands of the past three decades. Besides
Crowe on banjo, the band consists of guitarist Ricky Wasson and
mandolin player Dwight McCall, who both contribute lead and
harmony vocals, John Bowman on upright bass and vocals and Steve
Thomas on fiddle and vocals.

 |
Raymond Fairchild
The legendary banjoist has played at festivals for 50
years and thrilled audiences with songs including “Whoa Mule,”
his signature song. He has performed on the Grand Ole Opry since
1977 and has appeared on numerous specials for the Nashville
Network and other stations.

The

Grove in Union Grove, N.C., and guitarist Zeb, 13, won top prize

in Galax, Va. Dad Bud plays bass.

Beverly
Smith and Carl Jones
For years Carl Jones and Beverly Smith have appeared on
the traditional music scene, at festivals, on record, at
contests and dances, in various bands and formations, playing
just about anything with strings or tossing in vocal harmonies
wherever there was the opportunity.

Jeff Little with Wayne Henderson
Pianist Jeff Little's lead solos, much influenced by the
flat-pick guitar tradition, are breathtaking in their speed,
precision, and clarity. With a mouth-rack harmonica and vocals
he can be a one-man show. His involvement with fiddle tunes, old
time country, and rockabilly dates to his growing up in Boone,
N.C., where his father owned a music shop.
